Project location:Singapore
Product: SSAW steel pipe welded with T + L clutch
Standard and material:EN10219 S355JR
Specifications:1800mm x 15meter/18meter
Application:Metro piling construction
This project is a joint venture between Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. and a local contractor in Singapore to construct the Singapore Metro. The product is an EN10219 S355J0H Spiral Submerged Arc Welded Pipe with a diameter of 1,800mm, which requires welding with T-shaped and L-shaped clutches at unit lengths ranging from 15 to 18 meters. The clutches specified for this order are not the standard C9 type, but rather a custom LT Interlock that demands specialized welding.
The T-shaped component is fabricated by welding two narrow steel plates, while the L-shaped part is positioned and welded using two angle steels as per the design drawings.
Lock positioning involves dividing the pipe’s outer perimeter by two to locate the half-arc mark, then aligning it with the vertical centerline to determine the clutch positions on both sides. Additionally, the half-arc distance and horizontal alignment of the two pipe ends must be rechecked to ensure both clutches lie on the same horizontal plane.
This process presents significant technical challenges, but we excels with its professional welding and technical teams. By optimizing the welding plan based on customer requirements, we successfully executed the project, ensuring its smooth implementation and contributing to Singapore’s social development and the well-being of its people.
